Welding Technology
Grades 10-12
Welding is a fabrication process that joins materials, typically metals or thermoplastics by applying the heat and pressure, causing the materials to melt and fuse together to create strong, permanent bonds.
This program prepares individuals to apply technical knowledge and skills to join or cut metal surfaces. Includes instruction in shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), gas metal arc welding (GMAW), flux core arc welding (FCAW), gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), oxy-fuel and plasma cutting, ferrous and non-ferrous materials, welding metallurgy, welding processes and heat treating, destructive and non-destructive testing, structural design, safety, welding symbols and blueprint reading, and applicable codes and standards.
