FCPS Ushers in 2025-26 School Year

Fayette County Public Schools launched the 2025-26 school year Aug. 13 with excitement and anticipation evident across the district. Students and staff were particularly hyped at our two newest facilities: The Hub for Innovative Learning & Leadership (The HILL) and Mary E. Britton Middle School. Here’s a first-day glance at both locations, with a combined slideshow below.  

The HILL

  • 1,400 Enrollment (1,000 individual students; some attend morning and afternoon classes)
  • 172,000+ Square feet (former Herald-Leader building)

“Today we open the doors to history — the first ever day at Mary E. Britton Middle School. Together we’ll set the tone, build the traditions, and create the pride that will define the Britton Bears for years to come." – Principal Dave Hoskins

  • 185,000+ Square feet (on former Hamburg Farms property)
